Being Erica
“Being Erica” is a Canadian comedy-drama TV series that was broadcast on CBC from January 5, 2009, to December 12, 2011.
Created by Jana Sinyor, the series was initially announced by CBC under the title “The Session,” but it was renamed “Being Erica” before its 2009 premiere. The show is produced by Temple Street Productions and distributed globally by BBC Worldwide.
The series features Erin Karpluk as Erica Strange, a woman who starts seeing a therapist to address her life’s regrets. She soon discovers that her therapist has the extraordinary ability to send her back in time, allowing her to relive and even alter past events.
In Canada, the second season began on September 22, 2009, but only 12 episodes were made due to CBC’s budget cuts.
On May 11, 2010, CBC announced the renewal of “Being Erica” for a third season consisting of 13 episodes. Soapnet also picked up the entire third season. Season 3 premiered on September 21, 2010, at 9 pm ET on CBC Television, and in the United States, it started airing on Soapnet from January 26, 2011.
The fourth and final season of the show aired in the fall of 2011. Although CBC never officially cancelled the series, Sinyor revealed to TV Guide during the fourth season that the show had naturally concluded, and she had no intention of writing or producing a fifth season.
