Buckle Brothers
In South Central Los Angeles, the spirit of the old west is alive and well, as filmmaker Marquette Williams vividly portrays the vibrant and energetic urban subculture that might surprise some. While “Urban Cowboy” is known as a film featuring John Travolta, just beyond Compton, it represents a genuine way of life. Typically, horseback riding and rodeos are linked with rural ranches and expansive landscapes, but four young inner-city cowboys are challenging these stereotypes. At twenty-three, Lil Ron, along with eighteen-year-olds Yah-Ya, Mike, and Jazmine, are discovering what it takes to succeed in the rodeo scene, with Lil Ron aiming for the Rookie of the Year title. Join these four trailblazers as they strive to blend the grit of city life with the determination of the wild west.
